Morocco: Plans to have 100% renewable energy by 2050
Morocco aims to meet 50 percent of its electricity needs from renewable sources by 2030 and 100 percent by 2050.
Renewables account for about 35 percent of the country's electricity needs, according to 2019 data. At the end of 2019, Morocco had 736 megawatts of solar power. The total renewable energy production capacity is 3,264 MW.
Going forward, as solar becomes more cost-competitive, it will play a bigger role in the growth of renewable energy.
