Portugal: 890MW of new PV installations in 2022, 2.59GW cumulative
According to the Portuguese Directorate General of Energy and Geology (DGEG), Portugal will install 890MW of new PV in 2022, a figure well below the 1,140MW forecast by DGEG and the 2.5GW forecast in SolarPower Europe's EU Market Outlook.
However, the Portuguese Association for Renewable Energy (APREN) believes that growth was mainly driven by large projects coming online, with Portugal adding 784MW of new installed capacity by the end of November. Portugal added around 546MW of new PV systems in the first half of 2022, meaning it installed just 344MW of capacity in the second half of the year.
Alentejo is said to have added the most solar power, with 177MW of new installed capacity. 48% of the country's solar power will be generated in Alentejo in 2022, according to DGEG.
