The largest floating solar farm in Thailand will be completed by June 2021
The first solar panels have been installed for Thailand's first floating solar farm, which is expected to be completed in June in the northeastern province of Ubon and will become the newest tourist attraction in the region.
The Thai government is building what it calls the world's largest floating solar farm in Ubon Ratchathani province as part of a global clean-energy policy.Thailand's Ministry of Industry and Energy also plans to build four floating solar farms in different industrial areas.
With new U.S. President Joe Biden in office, the United States is expected to adopt more environmentally friendly energy policies, including rejoining the Paris Agreement, and Thailand's aggressive shift to clean energy doves with his energy policies, said Energy Minister Suria Sariya."The Thai government wants to create a good environment for industrial zones and industries."
The Power Generation Board of Thailand has installed the first batch of solar panels for the Xilindong Hydropower Station Dam Reservoir, which is expected to generate 45 megawatts of power.
About 12 percent of Thailand's energy will come from sustainable sources in 2019, and the government hopes initiatives like floating solar farms will help the country increase its sustainable energy ratio to 37 percent by 2036.
