Uzbekistan announces bidding invitation for 600MW PV
Uzbekistan has recently launched two Invitation for Quotations (RFQs) as part of a tender to award at least 600MW of solar photovoltaic capacity.
The first bid consists of two projects, each with a minimum capacity of 200MW, in Kattakurgan district in Samarkand district and Gallaorol district in Gizak district.Through the tender, the government seeks to sign contracts with private developers or consortiums that will be responsible for the development, financing, construction, ownership and operation of the solar park, with the deadline for eligibility until Sept. 26, 2020.
Another photovoltaic project for bidding, with the help of the Asian Development Bank, is part of Uzbekistan's 1GW Solar Deployment Program, and another RFQ is for a 200MW solar power project in Sherabad district of Surkandariya province, which is the first project to be invited for bidding. The deadline for bids is August 25, and the EOI phase has already attracted 54 bids.
The two projects are part of a larger project program to deploy up to 900MW of solar photovoltaic capacity through a public-private partnership (PPP), which was conducted with the assistance of the World Bank's International Finance Corporation (IFC).In March, 84 companies and consortiums submitted expressions of interest to participate in the bid.
