IEA: Solar power to overtake coal-fired power within 5 years
Solar power is booming and is expected to overtake coal-fired power by 2027, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA), as the energy crisis caused by the Ukraine crisis drives a shift to renewable energy.
The IEA says renewable energy will become the world's largest source of electricity generation by early 2025, and that between 2022 and 2027, the world will add twice as much renewable energy capacity as it has in the past five years.
The IEA's latest annual Renewable Energy Report estimates that the world will add 2,400 GW of installed renewable energy capacity between 2022 and 2027, equivalent to China's current installed new energy capacity. This figure is 30% higher than predicted a year ago.(News from International Energy Network)
