Brazil expects pv installations to reach 24.9GW by the end of 2022
Brazilian Photovoltaic Energy Association (Absolar) predicts that in 2022, investment in photovoltaic power generation will reach R $50.8 billion, investment in distributed power generation should exceed R $40 billion, and the total amount of large-scale projects in centralized power generation will exceed R $10 billion. The investment will contribute to an 82 per cent expansion of Installed pv capacity in Brazil, which should reach 24.9 gigawatts by the end of the year.
With an average price of around $30 per megawatt/hour (MW/h), pv was the cheapest of the last three new energy procurement auctions promoted by The National Electricity Authority (Aneel) in 2021, said Sauaia, president of the Brazilian Photovoltaic Energy Association.
