Brazil's new PV installed capacity will reach 14GW
In the first half of 2023, Brazil's new PV installed capacity has reached 6.6GW. If this growth rate is maintained throughout 2023, it is expected that by the end of 2023, Brazil's new PV installed capacity will reach 14GW.
In the Brazilian photovoltaic market, the government has given many preferential policies. In the newly introduced policy in July 2023, photovoltaic installed after 23 years to charge a certain proportion of the distribution electricity (23 years need to charge 15% of the distribution cost, and then +15% per year to 29 years 100%), considering the distribution cost of Brazil's electricity price accounted for 20%, that is, the proportion of 15% in 23 years corresponds to about 3% of the price, and the sale price is about 97% of the purchase price. By the year 29, the selling price will decline to 80% of the purchase price. Looking at just 23 years, the 97% purchase price means little impact. That said, Brazil's PV policy allows PV system owners to sell surplus power back to the grid.
