Spain proposes to raise its 2030 PV installation target to 77GW!
Spain's Ministry of Ecological Transformation and Demographic Challenges (Miteco) has updated its National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) with plans to increase the 2030 solar PV installation target from 37GW to over 76GW.
The ministry is currently seeking public comments on the new draft, with a deadline of 4 September 2023. miteco said the revised proposal aims to reflect ambitions to achieve carbon emissions, curb the effects of global warming and modernise the economy by 2050.
According to the revised PNIEC, Spain's cumulative generation capacity is expected to be 214GW by the end of 2030.
To achieve this, MITECO plans to invest €294 million, of which 15% will come from public funds, including those provided by the European Union (EU), and 85% will go to the private sector.
